Adding and editing issue locations
This section describes how to add Location data to your issues.
Create a location field
Create a new custom field and add it to issue types by following Jira documentation. The GeoData Location custom field type is in the advanced section of the Select a Field Type screen.
Creating issues with location data
After creating a custom field and assigning it to an issue type, the field should be visible in Jira’s Create issue dialog.
By default, only the address search field and a map are visible.
There are two ways in which you can add a location to your issue:
Enter a part of your desired location’s address into the search field and press the Magnifying glass button. The search results will appear in a select box beneath the search field, and also as circles on the map—red for the currently selected result, and blue for the others. Select one of the options and press the Add button. Alternatively, click one of the circles on the map and press the Add button in the popup to add its location.
Click your desired location on the map and hold the mouse button down for a moment while making sure you do not move your mouse whatsoever. A small red circle will appear at the clicked location and a larger blue circle will appear at the closest suggested address. Click either circle and press the Add button in their popup to add their location. The suggested location can also be added by clicking the Add button above the map.
Whichever method you choose, the location data will appear in the fields below the map. You can freely edit them except for the Coordinates field—if you wish to use different coordinates you will have to add a different location using one of the aforementioned methods.
The Remove button next to the Coordinates field will remove the value of the Location field.
Editing existing location data
You can edit an issue’s location data by entering its Issue view and clicking the value of the Location field. This will open a dialog with the same form as in the Create issue dialog, which you can use to edit or delete location data.
